The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) provides free, hands-on nutrition education for Davidson County families and youth with limited resources. Through University of Tennessee Extension, EFNEP helps participants build practical skills to make healthy choices that fit their lives and budgets.
Who We Serve
EFNEP serves families with limited incomes:
- Parents and other adult caregivers who are responsible for feeding young children
- Emerging young adults ages 18 to 24
What Participants Learn
EFNEP classes help participants:
- Choose and prepare healthy foods
- Plan meals and stretch their food budgets
- Practice safe food handling
- Build cooking skills and confidence in the kitchen
- Increase physical activity and support healthy lifestyles
Partner With Us
EFNEP partners with schools, family resource centers, non-profits, community centers, housing communities, faith-based organizations, health care providers, social-service agencies, and other organizations that serve eligible Davidson County residents. Partners can support EFNEP by:
- Helping recruit participants
- Providing space for classes or meetings
- Scheduling adequate time for a series of interactive lessons
- Sharing EFNEP opportunities with clients, families, and community members
- Sharing EFNEP opportunities with clients, families, and community members
- Collaborating on activities that promote healthy eating and active living
